How to use Tool - Mirroring the Suface/Fill/Offset in Pro/E

<b>Mirroring the Surfaces:</b><br />
 The Mirror tool is used to mirror the surface about a plane.This tool becomes in the Edit Feature toolbar only,when a surface is selected.<br />
<br />
<b>To Mirror a surface:</b><br />
1. Select the surface to be mirrored.<br />
2. Click the Mirror Tool icon or choose Edit > Mirror...from the Main Menu.The Mirror dashboard appears.<br />
3.Select the Mirror plane for mirroring the surface object.<br />
4. Set  the Options as dependent copy or independent copy in the options tab of the Mirror dashboard.<br />
5. Click Tik Mark to complete the task.<br />
<br />
<b>Creating the Fill Surface:</b><br />
 The FILL tool is used to create a planar surface by sketching its boundaries.<br />
<br />The following task explains how to create a fill surface;<br />
1. Open the part file_surface.prt.<br />
2. Choose Edit > Fill...from the Main Menu.The Fill dashboard appears.<br />
3. In the Reference tab, click define button and select DTM1 as the sketch plane.<br />
4. Click Sketch button in the Sketch dialog box and enter the sketch enviroment.<br />
5. Sketch a circle along the edge of the top frustum.<br />
6. Exit the sketcher.<br />
7. Click Tik icon in the Fill dashboard to complete the geometry.<br />
This completes the task.A filled surface is now created.<br />
<br />
<b>Creating an Offset Surface:</b><br />
With the Offset tool, you can copy a surface with an offset distance.<br />
To create an offset surface:<br />
1. Select the surface to offset.<br />
2. Choose Edit > Offset...from the Main Menu.The Offset dashboard appears.<br />
<br />
for a standard offset, choose ane of the options:<br />
   - Normal to Surface<br />
   - Automatic Fit<br />
   - Controlled Fit<br />
<b>Normal to Surface: </b>Creates an offset surface normal to the base surface.Enter the value of the offset distance in the control box.<br />
<b>Automatic Fit: </b>Automatically fits in the X,Y and Z directions.<br />
<b>Controlled Fit:</b> If you select the controlled fit radio button,you also need to select a coordinate system in order to specify the direction of the offset.<br />
You can offset a surface with draft and expansion offsets,using the offset tool.<br />

</span>The Toroidal Bend command bends solids, surfaces or datum curves into
shapes.This command is used to create tire-like structures,where you need to
create operations on a flat surface and then bend it.</div>

</span>The Command creates two blends.You can bend the section with a bend
profile and then create a toroid.A coordinate system should be defined in bend
profile to define the neutral plane. The following task explains how to create
a toroidal bend.</div>

     DEFINE BEND menu click ADD. Select the top surface of the modeland then

     prompts you to set a sketching plane to draw the bend profile. Select the
     sketching plane and accept the default normal direction.</li>

     Default as the SKETVIEW. Add left and right edges as references in the
     References dialog box.</li>

Parallel blends are created between sections that are drawn
parallel to each other.</div>

The following task explains how to create a parallel blend;</div>

<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Open a
     new part file and name it as Parallel Blend.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Click
     Insert > Blend > Protrusion… from the Main Menu. The BLEND OPTS menu
     is displayed in the Menu Manager.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Choose
     Parallel > Regular Sec > Sketch Sec and Click Done in the BLEND OPTS
     menu.</li>
</ol>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Projected Sec:</b> This feature projects the section on the selected
surface and it is used for parallel blends only.</div>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Regular Sec:</b> This feature uses the sketching plane as the section
reference.</div>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Select Sec:</b> This feature selects already sectioned entities.</div>
<ol start="4" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1">

     Protrusion dialog box is now displayed for Parallel Blend.</li>
</ol>

The ATTRIBUTES menu is displayed
prompting you to choose Straight or Smooth options from the menu Choose
Straight and Click Done.</div>
<ol start="5" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Select
     the TOP Datum plane as the sketching plane. A red arrow indicates the
     direction of feature being created. Click Okay in the DIRECTION submenu.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">The
     SKET VIEW menu is displayed prompting for the Reference. Choose Right and
     select the RIGHT plane in the Graphics window.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Pro/ENGINEER
     takes you to the sketcher mode.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Draw a
     sketch of the rectangular cross section and then add constraints and
     dimension.</li>
</ol>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Note:</b> You will
notice that a start point is placed for the section. This start point must be
must mentioned in same direction for all the section. You can set the start
point direction by clicking on start point and right click and select start
point option.</div>
<ol start="9" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">In the
     parallel blends, after drawing the first section, Right Click on geometry
     area and select Toggle Section or choose Sketch > Feature Tools >
     Toogle Section. You need to toggle the section and draw the next section.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">When
     you choose Toggle Section, the previous section becomes inactive and
     appears gray in color.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Sketch
     the next section which is a circle of specified diameter.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">The
     number of entities per section for a blend feature must be equal, so
     divide the section into four equal parts and change the start point.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Toggle
     section to sketch section 3.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">Draw a
     square or circle or ellipse section and specify the start point on the
     upper left corner.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;">After
     you have completed sketching the sections, you have to specify the depth
     of each section. Then click OKAY MARK.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The blend feature has been completed.
     Click Preview in the PROTRUSION dialog box to preview the feature.</li>

     OK button and the feature is completed. This completes the task</li>

<b>Constant Section Sweep:</b><br />
      Constant sweep is the basic type oof sweep, where the cross section of the swept feature remains constant throughout the sweep.<br />

The following task explains how to create a Constant Section Sweep;<br />
<br />
1. Open the part file Sweep.prt<br />
2. Choose Insert > Sweep > Protrusion.... The PROTRUSION dialog box and the Menu Manager appears.<br />
3. The Menu Manager prompts you to select the trajectory  if it already exists or gives the option to sketch a new trajectory.In our task, the trajectory is already sketch and available.Click Select Traj in the Menu Manager.<br />
4. The Menu Manager prompts you to select the trajectory using any one of the various selection mathods given below.<br />
    <b>One by One:</b> Select indiviaul curves on edges.<br />
    <b>Tangent Chain:</b> Selects a chain of tangent edges.<br />
    <b>Curve Chain: </b>Selects a chain curves.<br />
   <b> Bndry Chain: </b>Selects a chain of one-sided edges that belong to the same surface list.<br />
 <b>   Surf Chain: </b>Selects a chain of edges that belong to the same surface.<br />
   <b> Intent Chain: </b>Selects a chain of all edges of surface which you have selected and if the shape of chain changes in future it updates according to your chain.<br />
5. For our context,select One by one method and using the Ctrl key, select the entities on the screen<br />
6. Click OK in the select box.The default start point is shown at the one end of the trajectory.<br />
7. Change the start point by clicking START POINT in the Menu Manager allows you to choose the other end of the trajectory by clicking Next.<br />
8. Choose the other end of the trajectory and choose Accept to fix the start point.Click Done when finished.<br />
9. Now the Menu Manager opens the sketcher Window to draw the cross section of the sweep.The default references are the trajectory and the perpendicular plane. <br />
10. Draw a circle with some diameter with intersection of the reference as center.<br />
11. Click OK to finish the sketch.You can change the orientation of the view according to your convenience.<br />
12. Ckick OK in the Protrusion dialog box to create the geometry.<br />
<br />
This concludes the task of protruding the sweep feature.If you are not creating the sweep as the base feature, the end attribute is available to define the end of the geometry.<br />
<b>Free Ends</b><br />
<b>Merge Ends</b><br />
<b>Remove Material:</b> The command Insert > Sweep > Cut... removes the geometry by sweeping along the extrude geometry.<br />
<b>Thin Protrusion: </b>The command Sweep > Thin protrusion... creates a hollow object with specified thickness.<br />
<b>Surface Sweep:</b> The command Sweep > Surface... ectrudes the section along the selected geometry into a surface.<br />

<b>Helical Sweep:</b><br />
   The Helical Sweep command extrudes a section along a helical
trajectory.For this command you have to define a trajectory that will specify
the shape and height of the helix, a pitch value and the cross section of the
helical feature. this command is mainly used to create helical springs and
threads.<br />

The following task explain how to create a spring using the Helical Sweep<br />
1. Open a new Part file Helical Sweep.prt<br />
2.Click Insert > Helical Sweep > Protrusion... The PROTRUSION: Helical
Sweep dialog box and the Menu Manager appear.<br />
3. The PROTRUSION dialog box initially prompts ATTRIBUTES to define the
helical geometry.<br />
<br />
<b>Constant:</b> Defines a constant pitch for the helical geometry<br />
<b>Variable: </b>You can specify a variable pitch which is defined by a
graph.<br />
<b>Thru Axis: </b>The cross section lies in a plane that passes through the
axis of revolution.<br />
<b>Norm To Traj:</b> The cross section is oriented normal to the trajectory.<br />
<b>Right Handed: </b>This option is used to create a helical feature in
which the section is swept in counter clockwise direction from the start
sketch.<br />
<b>Left Handed: </b>This option is used to create a helical feature in which
the section is swept in  clockwise direction from the start sketch.<br />

4. For our context, specify Constant pitch, Thru Axis and Right Handed
sweep.Click Done in the Menu Manager sfter specifying the above options.<br />
5. The PROTRUSION dialog box now requests you to sketch the sweep profile.
The Menu Manager prompts you to select the plane to sketch the sweep profile.<br />
6.Select the FRONT plane as the sketching plane and specify the direction of
viewing. You will now enter the sketcher environment.Specify the references.<br />
7. Sketch the sweep Profile and centerline.<br />
8. Complete the sketch.Now the command prompts for the pitch value.Enter the
value and then click ok<br />
9. Construct the cross-section of the sketch.<br />
10. Click continue with current session icon.<br />
11. Click ok in the PROTRUSION dialog box to complete the geometry.<br />
12. The command Helical Sweep > Cut... removes the material as the section
is swept around the path.This command is useful for creating threads. The
attributes and the procedures are the same as explained in the Helical Sweep
> Protrusion... Command.<br />

Swept Blend:<br />
<br />
 The swept blend features is a combination of both sweep and blend. To create the Swept blend feature, you have to define the origin trajectory and multiply sections.<br />
<br />
1.First create a Sketch figure after selecting the plane.<br />
2. Click Insert > Swept Blend from the main menu.Select the trajectory curve and click the yellow arrow to flip the direction of the trajectory.<br />
3. Slect Sections tab in the dashboard.Click Slected Selections.Select the first section.<br />
4. Click insert from the sections tab. Select the second section.<br />
Insert the intermediate section<br />
5. Click Section 1 from the section tab.<br />
       Click Insert.(Do not select any sections.)<br />
       Notice that a new section 2 has been added sfter section 1 in the sections list.<br />
       Click Remove.<br />
6. Select the section 1 mode from the model to activate it.<br />
       Right-click and select Insert Section.<br />
       Select the section.<br />
       Notice the refined shape of the blend<br />
Control the cross-sectional area at a specified location and complete the model.<br />
7. Select the Options tab from the dashboard.<br />
       Click Set cross-section area control.<br />
       Right-click and select Area Ctrl Reference.Select the vertex.<br />
8. Type a value 1 for the Area Value in the Options tab and press ENTER.<br />
9. Select Solid from the dashboard.Click Complete Feature icon.<br />
